A lot of reason can lead you to cleaning your mattresses including dead skin cells, mites, dust, oils and other body fluids that have seeped in are some.  No matter how much you take good care of your sommier lattes, these dirt and other substances would simply end up in them which is why cleaning it in a regular basis and cleaning it the right way is needed to ensure that you will always have the best night sleeping on it.

Vacuuming your mattresses is one of the best ways that you can do to clean it.  Using cleaning products or water to saturate the nasty smell and stains is never a good idea to avoid the possibility of molds to grow within the layers of your mattresses.  A hand-held vacuum can be used with an appropriate attachment to clean it.  This is often the only cleaning method that is recommended by manufacturers provided that the vacuum has adequate suction power to suck off all the dirt from the surface and possibly lift off those beneath it.  The futon, along with the box spring should be cleaned by intervals at regular basis.

If ever it gets soaked by liquid, paper or regular towels can be used to absorb all the liquid and moisture that has built up.  You can also use kitty litter to absorb the liquid from your mattresses although it would be quite a mess to clean after.  If urine was the one that soaked it, make sure that the spot is near dry before using a brush or sponge dipped in a mixture of detergent or baking soda in cold water to remove the stain and the horrible odor.  Make use of pads to keep it clean and free from stains and moistures that might occur when liquid is spilled on it.

Having mattresses steam cleaned is another method that you can use.  Although not all users welcome the idea, the method will be able to penetrate the fibers within the mattress which cannot be done by regular powders that leaves unpleasant aroma after being used.   Some detergent solutions can also be used to thoroughly clean mattresses without leaving unpleasant aroma behind.

You can get stains to your mattresses from dogs, children and other accidents that might happen on it and would be a tougher challenge to clean when allowed to stay for a long period of time.  The best time to clean it is immediately after these accidents happen.  There are a lot of ways that you can use in cleaning stains and you need to act fast on it.  It may take a little or more effort on your part but the benefit will be yours to enjoy in the long run.  Mattresses come with a responsibility just like all the things that you own.  Spending some time to clean them can be beneficial not only to your comfort, but to your health as well.  If there is a need for you to employ professionals to do the job, do so and make sure that you hire that right one.
